Developers’ day-to-day consists of data-driven problem-solving. Fetching large volumes of data from remote, dynamic cloud-native environments brings ever-growing complexity. The next generation of developer tools need to help engineers make sense of this complexity in an easy and intuitive way.
Today, visualization is a significant part of DevOps focused tools such as performance and dashboarding tools. But the increasing complexity of production-first, cloud-native applications emphasizes the need to include similar capabilities in the coding, source control management and debugging flows. Modern IDEs, SCMs and Debuggers must be able to visualize ever-increasing types of data to help software engineers perform their daily tasks.
In this talk, we will discuss the challenges of creating a dev-friendly product. The challenges I faced as a Product Manager at Rookout, the Live Data company. I will share insight learned from experience in overcoming complex development challenges and making developers’ life easier by using the right visualizations and data display.
